22 countries back call to keep AI under human control

Twenty-two nations adopted a declaration Monday at the UN General Assembly stating AI must remain under human direction, oversight and control and suggesting a global supervisory regime. Neither the U.S. nor China signed on. Finnish President Alexander Stubb, a main organizer who aims to create an international AI institution, told Politico he hopes to win both countries over before Thursday's Trump-Xi meeting in Washington.
