Hackers reveal how Flock cameras really track cars and people

Hackers removed a Flock Safety license-plate camera from above a road, copied its stored data and recovered its on-device encryption key, then shared the files with 404 Media, WIRED and the nonprofit Distributed Denial of Secrets. The device had generated over a million images, including one camera that alone captured 1.6 million images, and its software was found to detect people, bicycles and bumper stickers in addition to vehicles and license plates, despite Flock's claims of strong on-device encryption.
