Tigrayan forces declare full-blown war as fighting spreads across northern Ethiopia

Tigrayan forces say they are in a full-blown war with Ethiopia’s army, ending four years of fragile peace. Fighting is under way in three regions, including Tigray, in the biggest escalation since a 2022 deal ended civil war. The TPLF has joined former rivals in an alliance seeking to overthrow the government in Addis Ababa; both sides accuse the other of breaching unfulfilled terms of that agreement.
