Taliban says three killed in Pakistan airstrikes on Afghan border provinces

Pakistan struck northeastern Afghanistan on Monday in Kunar and Paktika, targeting what Pakistani security officials called militant hideouts. The Taliban said three people were killed and four wounded when a house in Kunar's Nurgal district was destroyed around 3:00 am; the Associated Press cited unnamed officials saying 28 suspected militants died. Hamdullah Fitrat accused Pakistan of bombarding civilian homes. Pakistan has not commented. The strikes followed a Friday suicide bombing and 20-hour gun battle at a district police headquarters in Kohat, near the border.
