Abbas urges UN to back two-state solution, says Palestinians will not be displaced

Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas told the UN General Assembly that his people seek a non-militarized, democratic Palestinian state coexisting with Israel, urging nations to support the two-state solution. He said Palestinians will not be displaced by military occupation, settlement expansion, annexation or settler terrorism, and that no lasting security can be built on occupation and denial of legitimate rights. Abbas called for protecting the land a future Palestinian state would rest on and for ending the Israeli occupation as the basis for negotiations.
