Super El Niño projected to cause more than 450,000 extra deaths in six months

Climate scientists estimate more than 450,000 people will die from extra heat brought by the current super El Niño over the next six months, on top of deaths already linked to the climate crisis. Toll spans Indonesia, India, Nigeria and the US, with further deaths expected from droughts, wildfires and flooding. The El Niño hit the highest temperature ever recorded for the phenomenon on Monday, months before its peak.
