Trump administration uses AI to deny Medicare care in troubled WISeR pilot

In January the Trump administration launched WISeR, a Medicare pilot that uses AI for prior authorization on care that previously needed none. Reports and EFF litigation documents describe technical failures, long delays, puzzling denials and patients in pain; one provider called it “a disgrace to the human race.” In May the GAO said officials skipped proper setup, raising legal doubts, yet the program continues toward expansion as lawmakers seek answers and Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-Wash.) pressed for more documents.
