Twenty countries and EU propose global AI oversight body

Twenty countries and the European Union, including Germany, South Africa, Canada, Australia, the UAE and Singapore, issued a joint statement on Monday calling for international cooperation to keep AI under human control. Released via Finnish President Alexander Stubb’s office ahead of UN General Assembly talks, it urges common standards, shared reports of serious safety incidents, and a possible global institution to set standards and verify compliance.
