Russian strikes hit Kyiv region and damage infrastructure in the capital
Russian strikes have damaged infrastructure in the Kyiv region and in the Ukrainian capital, renewing pressure on an energy network already strained by repeated attacks as winter approaches. Footage released by Ukraine’s emergency services shows firefighters directing powerful jets of water at burning industrial structures, working among wreckage as flames spread through the site.
The bombardment also hit energy facilities and a major bridge in Kyiv. In the capital, a kindergarten was left severely damaged: a large crater in its grounds, shattered walls, and children’s toys scattered in the rubble. Workers cleared debris from the destroyed building while nearby residents inspected the damage. Five people were reported wounded.
Ukraine is preparing for another difficult winter, with Russian forces repeatedly targeting energy infrastructure. Damage to power facilities threatens electricity and heating as temperatures fall. The strikes come amid diplomatic efforts to end the war, including talks involving Ukraine, Russia and the United States. Despite those initiatives, attacks on civilian areas and critical infrastructure continue.
