Coordinated bomb threats disrupt at least 18 European flights; all planes land safely with no explosives found
False bomb alerts disrupted European air traffic but every plane landed safely and searches found no devices. The latest wave covered at least 18 flights tied to Bulgaria, Czechia, France, Italy, Hungary, Cyprus, Romania, the United Kingdom and Portugal, including nine around Prague, four over France, two toward Sofia and one Lisbon–Rome; earlier Tuesday and Thursday warnings forced at least 35 diversions or searches. Hungary scrambled jets three times to escort traffic, according to Defence Minister Romulusz Ruszin-Szendi; Danish police checked Copenhagen airport, which kept operating. Friday’s cases amounted to 0.0674% of Eurocontrol’s 26,709 scheduled European flights. Separate Friday threats against Irish media halted broadcasts, prompted evacuations and searches; Taoiseach Micheál Martin spoke to RTÉ Radio 1 after scheduled service resumed.
