Jury awards Taction Technology over $5.7 billion in Apple haptics patent case

A federal jury in San Diego awarded Taction Technology more than $5.7 billion on Friday after finding Apple infringed two U.S. patents on vibration-based tactile transducers tied to the Taptic Engine in iPhones and Apple Watches. Taction sued in 2021; a trial that began Sept. 14 ended after two days of deliberation. The jury did not find willful infringement. Apple says it does not use Taction’s technology and will appeal.
