Footage shows people taking cover during Krakow square shooting
Witness video from Saturday shows pedestrians fleeing Kraków’s historic Main Market Square as a gunman opened fire from a car, killing six and injuring 16. The footage captures people running for cover while vehicles race past and shots ring out, along with shattered windows, overturned café chairs, ambulances and police cars at the scene and a helicopter overhead.
Police said the attacker was a 25-year-old Polish citizen who fired indiscriminately from the vehicle before exchanging shots with officers nearby. He was wounded, arrested and taken to hospital. Investigators believe he acted alone.
The six dead were four women and two men, one of them British. Two police officers were also injured, one of them critically. The interior minister said the suspect held ultranationalist views, and the defence minister described the attack as an act of terror.
