Malaysia begins Myanmar repatriations despite warnings from UN and rights groups

Malaysia began repatriating 1,500 Myanmar nationals on Tuesday as part of a plan to return 5,000 citizens to the war-torn country. Despite warnings from the UN and rights groups over potential persecution, three Myanmar navy ships departed a naval base carrying the first group. Rohingya refugees make up the majority of the 190,000 asylum seekers in Malaysia.
