Netanyahu’s UN speech sparks New York protests as crowds block streets outside headquarters

As Benjamin Netanyahu prepared to address the UN in New York on Thursday, hundreds of protesters blocked traffic outside headquarters for more than an hour, diverting official motorcades; dozens were arrested by early afternoon. Jewish, Palestinian, Iranian and Lebanese New Yorkers, along with elected officials, candidates and celebrities, chanted “Let Gaza live” and “Fund people not bombs,” while Democratic Socialists of America activists had rallied at JFK on Wednesday against weapons bound for Israel.
