Famine threatens Oleshky as Russia delays humanitarian evacuation corridor

Food supplies to Russian-occupied Oleshky in southern Kherson have been cut off since May, and Kyiv’s efforts to negotiate civilian evacuations with Moscow have largely failed. Tetiana Hasanenko of the Oleshky City Military Administration says deliveries stopped at the end of May and residents trade goods such as 2.5 kg of sugar for 10 eggs; she warns the town faces famine, not mere starvation, after June 2023 flooding from the Kakhovka dam breach.
