Anthropic signs $11.6 billion seven-year cloud deal with Akamai

Anthropic signed a seven-year, $11.6 billion cloud deal with Akamai Technologies and a warrant for up to 5% of Akamai stock—2% tied to the current contract and 3% more if the deal expands by up to $9 billion. Akamai shares rose 22% after hours. Anthropic’s compute commitments reportedly total $517 billion in eleven months, including $45 billion from Nscale last month. CEO Dario Amodei warned in December 2025 that Anthropic could go bankrupt if revenue estimates are even slightly wrong.
