Villagers near RAF Fairford report tighter base security and overnight vans in Whelford

Since the US air force was allowed to use RAF Fairford for attacks on Iran, locals have faced protesters and a heavy police presence. In recent weeks the base gates were barricaded with large tractors and concrete walls on Dunfield Loop and Whelford Road. In the early hours of Sunday, people in Whelford noticed three vans blocking a lane; a WhatsApp group exchanged messages from about 1.30am, according to residents including Jason and Julian Tudsbery, who has lived in the village for 30 years.
