How a team of AIs discovered a promising lung-cancer drug

Stanford computer scientist James Zou led development of the Virtual Biotech, an AI system of up to 37,000 autonomous agents built on large language models, described in Science. The system found a molecular signal that could help predict clinical-trial success and, with human oversight, identified a promising lung-cancer treatment. Its predictions have not yet been validated through lab experiments or clinical trials.
