Gaza recovery needs reach $71.5bn amid most severe economic crisis on record, UN says

A UNCTAD report puts Gaza’s recovery and reconstruction needs at $71.5bn, likely to rise, after what it calls the world’s most severe economic crisis on record. Since October 2023, Israeli military operations have damaged or destroyed 92% of economic establishments; over 90% of working-age Gazans are unemployed; GDP per capita fell to $212 ($0.58 a day), down 83% since 2022; and $2.8bn in labour income was lost across the Occupied Palestinian Territories.
