The Remarried Empress becomes biggest local original premiere ever on Disney+ and Hulu
The Korean fantasy romance series "The Remarried Empress" has set a new global benchmark on Disney+ and Hulu, recording the biggest launch for any local original worldwide based on its first three days of viewership. Released a day early on November 3, the drama quickly claimed the top spot among Korean premieres across more than 50 markets, including the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, France, Germany, and Australia.
Based on the popular Naver Webtoon, which has accumulated nearly three billion views, the narrative follows Empress Navier and Emperor Sovieshu of the Eastern Empire. After Sovieshu falls for escaped slave Rashta, Navier agrees to a divorce under the condition that she marry Heinrey, crown prince of the rival Western Kingdom, igniting an empire-wide struggle for power. Directed by Cho Suwon and adapted by Yeoh Geena and Hyun Choongyeol, the show stars Shin Mina as Navier, Ju Jihoon as Sovieshu, Lee Jongsuk as Heinrey, and Lee Seyoung as Rashta.
Following strong pre-release buzz—including sold-out screenings at the Busan International Film Festival and 13 million trailer views in 48 hours—the first four episodes are now streaming. Two new episodes will be released every Wednesday starting November 11, leading to the finale on November 25.
