Greek authorities probe cause of Athens blast that killed six in Plaka collapse

Greek officials are investigating an explosion that made a two-storey block in Athens’ historic Plaka district collapse in seconds, killing six. Fire crews found three women and three men on Saturday, more than 24 hours after the blast; among the dead were four American tourists in a short-term rental on the first floor and a British man and his Greek wife, 77 and 78, who lived upstairs. Bodies went to the morgue for postmortems as rescuers had searched rubble with dogs and heavy gear while the vice-mayor said the focus is what caused the building to fall so fast.
