Heavy rain floods Bangkok, affecting 52,000 households and forcing nearly 4,900 into shelters

Days of downpours inundated homes and roads in Bangkok. The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration said about 52,000 households were hit and nearly 4,900 people went to shelters. A flood disaster was declared Saturday after almost 48 hours of rain; more than 330mm fell in some areas from Thursday to Sunday. Canals stayed high Sunday as drainage work continued, with more rain forecast before easing Monday.
