Iran's president tells UN it will never bend to US pressure

President Masoud Pezeshkian told the UN General Assembly that Iran will never "bend the knee" after nearly seven months of war with the US and Israel, responding to Donald Trump's threat to "annihilate" Iran unless a deal is reached soon. He said any agreement must end the US blockade on Iranian ships and ports; Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi and US envoy Steve Witkoff held indirect Qatar-brokered talks in New York on Tuesday, the first since a June preliminary accord to end the war and reopen the Strait of Hormuz collapsed within weeks.
