Houthi attack on Mecca, Medina would cross red line, Pakistan PM tells UN

At the UN General Assembly in New York on Friday, Pakistan's prime minister Shehbaz Sharif condemned Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia, warning that any threat to the sanctity of Mecca and Medina is a red line. The Houthis dismissed Riyadh's claim they targeted Mecca as a heinous lie. Army chiefs of Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Turkiye met in Riyadh the same day to discuss the Mecca Joint Defence Agreement signed last month, which treats an attack on any member as an attack on all; Islamabad and Ankara have refrained from joining Riyadh's fight with the Houthis.
