UN warns Yemen fighting could send 10,000 refugees to Djibouti and displace 230,000

Renewed fighting between Iran-aligned Houthi rebels, who seized Yemen’s Red Sea coastline earlier this month, and Saudi-backed Aden government forces has killed hundreds and uprooted more than 100,000 civilians inside Yemen. The UNHCR warns arrivals in Djibouti could exceed 10,000 in coming months—over 3,000 have already crossed—and internal displacement could surpass 230,000, with flows expected to rise after mid-October when sea conditions improve.
