Scientists detect radio signals from an exoplanet for the first time

Harvard and University of Oregon researchers used South Africa’s MeerKAT radio telescope to record radio emissions from Beta Pictoris b, a gas giant several times Jupiter’s mass orbiting a star about 63 light-years from Earth. It is the first time such signals have been unequivocally linked to a specific exoplanet; the authors say they come from magnetic activity, not aliens.
