United States Grand Prix: Antonelli starts from pole with title in reach
Kimi Antonelli will start the United States Grand Prix in Austin from pole position with an opportunity to secure the Formula One drivers’ championship. He holds a 102-point advantage over Mercedes teammate George Russell and will clinch the title if he wins while Russell finishes outside the top eight and Lewis Hamilton fails to make the top four.
The race begins at 3pm local time in Austin, or 8pm GMT. Russell and Hamilton remain central to the title permutations, but Antonelli controls the immediate outcome from the front of the grid.
Mercedes is also firmly in command of the constructors’ championship with 578 points, 134 ahead of Ferrari on 444. McLaren sits third with 339, narrowly leading Red Bull on 332. Racing Bulls follows with 100 points, ahead of Alpine on 68 and Haas on 30. Audi has 23, Williams 12 and Aston Martin seven, while Cadillac has yet to score.
