Tropics will be among last regions to benefit if global emissions reach net zero

Australian scientists led by Dr Andrew King at the University of Melbourne found the tropics will be among the last places to benefit if global greenhouse gas emissions reach net zero, the implicit goal of the 2015 Paris agreement. Temperatures have risen more in tropical areas than at higher latitudes, and this inequality would not be reversed at net zero and could take many decades to ease even under net-negative emissions. The study was published in Environmental Research Letters.
