Infantino proposes independent external review of Fifa governance

Fifa president Gianni Infantino wrote to the council and all 211 member association presidents on Monday proposing an independent external review of the body’s governance framework for major strategic initiatives, acknowledging concern over a now-abandoned plan to sell a 20% stake in Fifa’s commercial rights, including the World Cup, to private investors. The July plan was scrapped after boycott threats; Uefa, the Asian Football Confederation and Concacaf had called for leadership changes.
