FDA nominee Overton tells Senate MMR vaccine is safe and effective

At a Senate hearing on Thursday, Donald Trump’s FDA nominee Dr Heidi Overton said the MMR vaccine is safe and effective, weeks after standing behind him when he suggested it could be quite lethal. She said every US vaccine meets FDA standards and MMR is the best tool against measles as cases reach their highest level since 1991. Chair Bill Cassidy, whose vote is pivotal, had called her role in Trump’s August vaccine order almost disqualifying.
