Mass Ukrainian drone attack on Moscow kills two on final day of Russian elections, officials say

Ukraine launched a mass drone attack on Moscow and its surrounding region on the final day of Russia's parliamentary elections, killing at least two people and damaging a major refinery. Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin said more than 1,600 drones were intercepted, 450 of them heading for the capital, and accused Ukraine of trying to disrupt the tightly controlled vote that is expected to extend President Vladimir Putin's 26-year rule. Regional Governor Andrey Vorobyov said a 44-year-old woman and an elderly man were killed, and that a drone crashing into a 21-storey building sparked a fire forcing the evacuation of 400 people. The strikes come as Kyiv has stepped up its long-range drone campaign against Russia's energy infrastructure, now in the fifth year of the war.
