Meta Muse rolls out as an AI agent that can spot and cancel forgotten subscriptions

Meta launched Muse this month as a broad personal AI assistant that can surface and cancel recurring charges on credit cards, hitting a subscription model that relies on consumers who sign up but rarely cancel. A Mastercard and FT Strategies report in April said 44% of U.S. consumers increased subscription spending in 2025, with average annual spend at $1,887 (about $157 a month). Bank of America payments data showed subscription spend up 7.7% year-over-year in July, faster than overall card spending, with entertainment and retail subscriptions about 43% of the total.
