Anthropic Wet Lab Reports CRISPR-Like DNA Patterns in Giant Viruses

Anthropic has opened a wet lab where human scientists and AI agents design and run biology experiments. This week it reported DNA patterns in several giant viruses that resemble sequences in microbial CRISPR immune systems, though their function is unknown. A preprint on alphaXiv, posted 23 September and not peer reviewed, marks an early result from its new life sciences group.
