Bethesda officially titles the next Elder Scrolls game Sentinel
Bethesda Game Studios has officially named the next main Elder Scrolls installment The Elder Scrolls VI Sentinel, confirming the title in a video of less than ten minutes that marks 40 years of Bethesda game studios. Studio chief Todd Howard made the announcement and described it as the “perfect time” to fully name the game. More than eight years have passed since Bethesda first announced that a sixth Elder Scrolls title existed, and very little concrete detail about the project had been released in the intervening years.
The studio shared no further gameplay, story, or release information with the name. An Xbox Wire post accompanying the reveal consisted only of a picture of the logo. The confirmation follows reporting that Bethesda planned to name the game in November, a period that also marks 15 years since The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim.
Sentinel is set in Hammerfell, a province in the series’ fictional world that previously appeared in The Elder Scrolls Adventures: Redguard and The Elder Scrolls Online. According to the report, Sentinel will be the first game about the history of the Elder Scrolls and is intended to help uncover the secrets of those ancient artifacts. Debates over platform exclusivity for The Elder Scrolls VI have circulated, but today’s announcement did not address platforms or a launch window.
