Saudi Arabia and Houthis trade attacks as Yemen conflict escalates

Fighting between Saudi Arabia and Yemen's Houthi rebels intensified, leaving at least five dead. Saudi Arabia said a drone strike killed one person near Mecca and denied the Houthis' claim they targeted the holy city; the Houthis said Saudi warplanes hit three telecom towers in Taiz, and Houthi-linked media reported four more deaths, including three children, from strikes by Yemen's internationally recognized government. The 2022 truce collapsed in July after the Houthis let an Iranian plane land in Sanaa, defying Saudi control of Yemeni airspace.
