Gaza children return to class in tents and ruins after three years

Hundreds of thousands of Gaza children resumed in-person classes on Saturday for the first time in nearly three years, gathering in damaged buildings, tents and makeshift rooms amid severe shortages of basic supplies. UNICEF says 98% of Gaza schools were destroyed or damaged during Israel’s genocidal war on the enclave; officials estimate about 660,000 students were deprived of regular learning and roughly 22,000 students and 770 education workers, including 532 teachers, were killed.
