Spain grows fruit and vegetables for Europe — but it's running out of water

Spain's southern coast produces 25% of Europe's fresh produce, but intensive farming, climate change, and over 1,000 illegal wells draining an aquifer are drying up the protected Doñana National Park wetland. In 2016, WWF Spain estimated illegal ponds irrigated 4,200 football fields of land.
