Ukraine’s NATO envoy calls for more air defense donations

Ukraine’s ambassador to NATO, Alyona Getmanchuk, told Politico on Friday that Kyiv needs more air defenses as allies doubt they can counter the growing scale of Russian attacks, with Patriot interceptor stocks depleted and production rates too slow. She framed aid as a swap rather than a donation: allies hand over interceptors from existing stocks now — including missiles near the end of their service lives — and Ukraine replaces them later with missiles it has already ordered, arguing destroying Russian drones and missiles in Ukrainian skies also protects neighboring NATO borders.
