Brain scans reveal a possible cause of long COVID fatigue and brain fog

A CAMH-led PET imaging study published in eBioMedicine found substantially lower levels of a marker linked to dopamine neuron health in people with long COVID, the strongest evidence yet that the condition may damage dopamine-releasing neurons. The finding may explain persistent fatigue, low motivation, slower movement and memory problems in a condition estimated to affect about 5% of people globally.
