U.S.-China trade truce extended to January 10, Bessent says as Xi begins Washington visit

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said the U.S. and China extended their trade truce to Jan. 10, keeping tariffs lower and rare earths flowing. The deal had been set to expire in November under a one-year pact Xi and Trump agreed in South Korea last October. Bessent said Beijing must fulfill more deliverables; many had expected a longer extension. Xi began a Washington state visit through Friday.
