China's Xi urges U.S. to cooperate on artificial intelligence at White House meeting

At the White House on Thursday, Chinese President Xi Jinping told U.S. President Donald Trump that AI offers more scope for cooperation than competition, state media said. Xi called for continued dialogue on risks and misuse and stressed human control. The U.S. has restricted China's access to advanced semiconductors for AI; Scott Bessent said this week the sides discussed a U.S.-China AI dialogue and a proposed incident alert system.
