Study finds AI access makes people almost entirely unwilling to say they do not know

Researchers ran five experiments with 3,132 participants and found that simply having AI advice available nearly wiped out willingness to say “I don’t know,” falling from 36–44% without access to 6–3% with it. The tasks used questions where Step 3.5 Flash was almost always wrong; confidence with AI reached 75.9 versus 29.6 without it, yet accuracy was only about a third as high.
