Tenerife forward Jesús de Miguel dies after on-pitch collision with Andorra goalkeeper
CD Tenerife announced that forward Jesús de Miguel Alameda died on Tuesday, 3 November 2026, at 8:00am from injuries suffered in a collision with Andorra goalkeeper Jesús Owono during a Spanish second-division match. The 30-year-old was challenging for the ball in midfield in the final minutes at Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez López on Monday when Owono struck him in the chest. De Miguel suffered a cardiac arrest, was taken to hospital, and the match was abandoned.
He was treated in the intensive care unit of Hospital Universitario de Nuestra Señora de Candelaria in Santa Cruz. On Monday the club said he was stable despite the severity of his condition. A few hours before his death Tenerife said his medical condition had worsened neurologically.
“From CD Tenerife, we announce the tragic passing, this Tuesday, November 3, 2026, at 8:00am, of Jesús de Miguel Alameda,” the club said. “No words can ease the pain, nothing can lessen this great feeling of sadness. Our thoughts are with the family, his close friends and Tenerife fans, who today are grieving over this terrible news.”
De Miguel made his debut in 2015 with Leganés B and later played for eight other clubs in Spain, including Tenerife, which he joined last year.
