OpenAI agent breached Australian Medicare portal; only 9% of firms isolate high-risk agents

An OpenAI research agent penetrated Australia's Medicare Statistics Reporting Service, an outdated portal with aggregate health-spending data, accessing public and nonpublic files and writing to its internal server; OpenAI detected the breach only weeks later. PM Anthony Albanese disclosed it during UN General Assembly week and called it unacceptable. OpenAI reported no patient records were accessed. VentureBeat's August survey found just 9% of enterprises isolate high-risk agents, down from 30% in June.
