Yemeni Prime Minister Unhurt After Houthi Missile Strike on Aden Palace
Yemen’s prime minister escaped unharmed after Houthi missiles struck the Maashiq Presidential Palace in Aden, according to a Yemeni minister. Two people were killed in the attack, which directly targeted one of the country’s most important seats of political power.
The strike underlined the danger facing Yemen’s leadership and the continuing escalation of a conflict that has drawn in regional powers. Although the prime minister survived, the deaths and the palace’s vulnerability demonstrated the Houthis’ ability to threaten senior officials in Aden.
Saudi Arabia blamed Iran for fueling the worsening conflict, pointing to Tehran’s backing of the Houthis. The accusation places the palace attack within the wider regional struggle surrounding Yemen, where domestic fighting is closely connected to tensions between Saudi Arabia and Iran. The missile strike therefore carried significance beyond its immediate casualties: it threatened the country’s political leadership while sharpening competing claims about responsibility for the war’s escalation.
