Single CRISPR infusion halved bad cholesterol for a year in trial

A Cleveland Clinic Phase 1 trial gave 15 patients with lipid disorders that had not responded well to drugs one infusion of CRISPR-Cas9 gene-editing therapy. After 12 months, those on the highest dose had a 52.5% drop in LDL cholesterol and a 47.8% fall in triglycerides from baseline, with no serious adverse events tied to the treatment. The results were presented at the 2026 European Society of Cardiology meeting and published in the New England Journal of Medicine.
