Qatar PM calls US-Israel war on Iran fallout an "earthquake", urges end to escalation

Qatar's Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani warned against "cycles of escalation" in the Middle East, describing the economic fallout of the US-Israel war on Iran as "an earthquake" whose shock waves challenge assumptions about security well beyond the region. Speaking on Sunday at a Qatar Economic Forum event alongside the UN General Assembly in New York, he called for a framework in which sovereignty is respected and no state threatens another, arguing permanent security cannot rest on arrangements leaving any state permanently insecure. He also announced Qatar is shifting investment focus to a $38bn domestic infrastructure plan.
