Russian missile strikes devastate Ukraine's Zaporizhstal steel plant and metallurgical sector

Four waves of Russian missile strikes involving 17 missiles have devastated the Zaporizhstal steel factory in Zaporizhzhia, killing eight workers, wounding 31, and forcing an indefinite shutdown that affects 8,500 employees. All Ukrainian metallurgical plants have now been struck, threatening a sector that accounted for 10 percent of GDP and a third of exports prior to 2022.
