Bulgaria's battery storage surges from zero to nearly a quarter of power capacity

In under two years Bulgaria built battery storage from zero to nearly a quarter of installed power capacity, backed by close to €3 billion ($3.4 billion) in EU and private funding per Capital, giving one of the world's highest storage-to-capacity ratios and outpacing California, Germany and China. Batteries stabilized neighboring grids and arbitraged cheap solar into evening peaks; experts say the boom went under the radar but its sustainability for conventional generators remains uncertain.
