Probably Stolen surges on Steam with more than 150,000 concurrent players
Probably Stolen, the debut from indie studio Questing Goose, has become Steam’s latest surprise hit after a quiet Oct. 28 launch, climbing to a peak of 174,382 concurrent players on Nov. 4, according to SteamDB — well above the 150,000 already noted as it kept rising. The cyberpunk shopkeeping game blends Cyberpunk 2077’s look with Papers, Please–style systems and inventory management: you run a market stall on a dystopian space station, chasing profit after a scavenger’s loan lands you a storefront while rent climbs and factions watch.
Most of the best margins sit in legal gray zones. Players pick what trouble to monetize — gunsmith, chemist, farmer, water merchant, or fence — each with its own headaches, from addiction and inspections to machinery and permits. Operations can expand into several businesses at once, but missing rent is fatal.
Steam reviews are aggregating to “overwhelmingly positive.” Players praise a “just one more round” pull and argue it stands out among low-effort Steam releases, though some say the late game does not evolve much after dozens of hours. At $17.99, many still call that a fair trade. Anecdotes include hiding a storage chest in a trashcan during a surprise inspection and forgetting it, and a water dealer who put opium in the supply to boost sales.
